Mission: To create an “eat local, buy local” mentality that celebrates our communities creativity and fosters economic growth in Morgan County

1.    To establish a network of local artists, crafters, hobbyists/enthusiasts and musicians
2.    To maintain a viable art and music community within our county
3.    To support the local Farmer’s Market and individal growers within the county
4.    To promote the health benefits of eating locally
5.    To provide a space where the community can easily access locally produced goods and foods
6.    To reduce the carbon footprint associated with traditional shopping habits
7.    To develop a free community event that brings together friends and neighbors and encourages the use and enjoyment of Old Mill Park

Market in the Park originated out of the New Cities Initiative spearheaded by the West Liberty Chamber of Commerce. A few of us that attended the meetings wanted to have an event that highlighted the unique talents of our community. As a result, Market in the Park was realized and the first event was held in August 2009. This event included locally made arts/crafts, locally grown produce, and local musicians.

Market in the Park is held on the first Saturday in August.  It will take place this year on Saturday, August 6th from 9am-3pm at the Old Mill Park in West Liberty. Over 30 arts/crafts and hobbyists/enthusiasts vendors will be attending along with local growers and musicians. Locally grown food will be available and free to the public. Come down and enjoy a day at the park!
